The Chinese Association of Science & Technology, North Carolina Chapter (CAST-NC), cosponsored by Chinese-American Friendship Association (CAFA), will hold its annual all-member meeting on Saturday, October 4, 2008 at 7:00pm at Ball Room, 2nd Floor, Talley Student Center, North Carolina State University (NCSU) in Raleigh.
This year’s annual meeting will be featured by themes of ‘The Latest Science & Technology Policy in China’ and ‘Career Development of Entrepreneurs’. Our two keynote speakers, Mr. Ju Jin, counselor of Department of Science & Technology, Chinese Embassy in the United States and Mr. Michael Chen, Vice President of Red Hat have gracefully accepted our invitation to give keynote speeches at the meeting.
In addition to the keynote speeches, Former CAFA president and Board Chairman, current CAST-NC Board member, George Zhou will share with you his volunteer experience at Beijing Olympics. Mr. Don Alexander, Recruiting Manager, Director Business Development – Life Sciences of Carlyle & Conlan will be on site to provide you recruiting information of biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies in the Triangle area. He would also be glad to answer your questions about the employment information in life sciences sector.

Brief Biography of Michael Chen
Michael Chen – Vice President, Market Development
Michael Chen, Vice President, Market Development, identifies and pursues strategic business opportunities, mergers, acquisitions, partnerships, alliances, and joint ventures in worldwide markets.
Prior to this role, Chen was Vice President, Corporate Marketing, where he led the corporate brand, global communications, customer experience management, online strategy, and community affairs. In addition, he was previously the General Manager of Red Hat China. In this role he carried P&L responsibility and led overall operations, including strategic planning, sales, marketing, government relations in China, Taiwan, and Hong Kong markets. He was also a key member of Red Hat’s Asia-Pacific management team where he contributed significantly to Red Hat’s global channel, marketing, and sales strategy.
Chen began his career at Red Hat as a product marketing manager in 2003 where he co-managed the Red Hat Enterprise Linux product line. In all of his roles at Red Hat, he provided valuable input to Red Hat global strategy.
Prior to working with Red Hat, Chen held several senior sales and marketing management positions in Chinese and Hong Kong companies, facilitating multi-million dollar sales and winning significant projects. Chen holds an MBA from The University at North Carolina, a Masters degree in Computer Networking Engineering from North Carolina State University, and Bachelors degree from Nanjing University.
