Three main resources for on-campus transportations are:

Duke Transit, Safe Ride, and Duke-UNC Robertson Scholars Bus.

Related info can be found at: https://aux03.auxserv.duke.edu…/busschedules/busschedules.htm

Duke Transit provides services between different campus (i.e. West, Central, and East Campuses). Safe Ride provides on-campus or off-campus (within certain near-campus areas) from 5pm to 7am normally. Robertson Scholars Buses run between Duke¡¯s West Campus Main Quad (in front of Duke Chapel) and UNC¡¯s Morehead Planetarium parking lot. It is a non-stop express bus that connects Duke and UNC.

I highly recommend Safe Ride before you buy your own car. Since it is unsafe to walk outside during the night, it is a good idea either to drive by yourself or have a friend give you a ride. The Safe Ride is very convenient. All you need to do is to call 684-SAFE and tell them where you are and where you want to go.

Other transportation resources are those public ones. One is Triangle Transit Authority (TTA) (http://www.ridetta.org/) Triangle Transit Authority (TTA) offer services to North Carolina’s greater Triangle area; the other is Durham Area Transit Authority (DATA) (http://paction.vwh.net/paweb/nc/us106.htm). This year free shuttle service was provided to and from RDU International Airport for Spring Break.

The last thing I would like to mention is parking. Please pay enough attention to that. The parking tickets on campus are expensive and strict. You should park at the right place with corresponding level of permit. Details can be found at: https://aux03.auxserv.duke.edu/parking/Tickets/tickets.htm
