Southern China in Blooming Spring: Nature and Humanities

Friday, Afternoon, Main West Quad and BC Plaza

A Chinese saying goes “Heaven above, Suzhou and hangzhou below”. These two famous cities, together with the others in the lower reaches of Yangtze River, constitute an important part of the Southern China, which is commonly referred to as Jiangnan (江南). This region of China is renowned for its beautiful stone bridges, pagadas, and meticulously
designed gardens which have contributed to its status as a great tourist attraction. Besides natural beauty, this part has been the cultural and economic center of China since Southern Dynasties.

DCSSA would like to contribute our efforts to an exhibition of the extremely beautiful area in China. We sincerely wish our architectural molds could arouse some of your reflections of this mysterious wonderland.

俗话说”上有天堂，下有苏杭”。这两座著名的城市，连同长江下游的其他几座城市，构成了中国南方重要的一个部分–江南。江南自古以 优美的石桥、建筑以及精心设计的园林闻名于世。除了美丽的自然风景，江南地区自南北朝时期就是中国文化与经济的中心。
