We are looking for a Software Development Engineer to join the team in Raleigh to design, develop, code, and unit test software.
The ideal candidate will have experience in software product development with work experience in developing products for networking equipment manufacturers (switches, routers, firewalls, load balancers etc.) or test equipment manufacturers which has resulted in high-quality product deliveries. Other relevant experience includes candidates having created detailed requirements by working with marketing, customers, and internal subject matter experts. Candidate will also possess outstanding analytical, written and oral communication skills.
Spirent’s North Carolina Development Center in Raleigh is located directly on North Carolina State University’s Centennial Campus. Requirements:
BS or MS in Computer Science is required. BS minimum, MS preferred. Experience in developing software products for networking software or equipment manufacturers (routers, switches, and/or load balancers) is highly desired, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Strong Object Oriented design skills using C++ is a must
• Experience using C++ Standard Template Libraries (STL’s)
• Experience with Design Patterns for creating architectures and designs
• Familiarity with XML and related technologies desired
• Software development experience is required
• Experience in developing cross-platform software systems on Windows, Solaris, and Linux is a plus
• A proven record of designing, implementing, and delivering high quality software products in a timely manner.
• Ability to communicate effectively with all team members and with the management team on design decisions and issues
• Experience in developing software products for networking software or equipment manufacturers (routers, switches, and/or load balancers) is desired.
• Superb written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work effectively with team members in a multi-site development environment.
• In addition to strong technical skills, we require candidates who have solid leadership skills.
• Familiarity with C# and scripting languages such as TCL and PERL is highly desired
