 为了弘扬中国优秀的传统文化，DCSSA将于近期播出中国经典文化赏析系列。本周六我们会首次放映中央电视台播出的百家讲堂--于丹教授《论语》心得。
时间：7月26日，7：30pm
地点：CIEMAS Auditorium (提供饮料及小食品)
简介：
《论语》集中了孔子的人生感悟和思想精华，影响中国社会两千多年。《论语》的精髓就在于把天之大，地之厚的精华溶化于人的内心，天、地、人就会成为一个完美的整体，人的力量就变得无比强大。即使在当今社会中，我们中国人也常会说，天时、地利、人和是国家兴旺，事业成功的基础，这是不是《论语》的思想精华对我们现代人的启发呢？ |

July 19th: Pool Party Remainder

 Break out your swimsuits!
The Evergreens annual pool party will be taking place July 19th between 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm.
There will be catered food from Carrabba’s Italian Grill, drinks, music, gifts, games, and a whole lot of fun! Wool-E-Bull of the Durham Bulls will make a visit between 5:30 pm – 6:30pm.
This year’s fundraiser is for China’s Earthquake Disaster Charity with special help and thanks from The Chinese American Friendship Association.
The party is free of charge, but we ask that you bring a donation for the Earthquake victims. 100% of the funds raised will go directly to the charity.
$5.00 Raffle tickets are being sold at the clubhouse from now until the day of the event.
The raffling will start at 6:00pm until everything is gone. Come and support the cause and possibly win an iPod Nano, or Family pack to the Durham Bull’s game, plus many more.
All raffling for any move in special will be done at the pool party. Please be present to see if you win!

 独立日（独立纪念日）是美国的主要法定节日之一，日期为每年7月4日，以纪念1776年7月4日大陆会议在费城正式通过《独立宣言》
《独立宣言》由托马斯·杰佛逊起草，1776年7月4日经大陆会议专门委员会修改后通过，并由大陆会议主席约翰·汉考克签字生效。《独立宣言》开宗明义地阐明，一切人生而平等，具有追求幸福与自由的天赋权利；淋漓尽致地历数了英国殖民主义者在美洲大陆犯下的罪行；最后庄严宣告美利坚合众国脱离英国而独立。《独立宣言》是具有世界历史意义的伟大文献。通过《独立宣言》的这一天也成为美国人民永远纪念的节日，定为美国独立日。 |

南极气温上升导致小企鹅大量冻死

 羊城晚报7月14日报道 南极地区连续爆发反常暴风雨，导致成千上万只新生小企鹅活活冻死。据估计，经此一难，南极企鹅数目将锐减两成。南极专家认为，这是气候变化给南极地区带来的又一灾难性影响。 |

 6月的第三个星期日是父亲节。相对于母亲节，父亲节是人们比较陌生的一个节日，是1910年在美国华盛顿州的士波肯市由杜德太太发起的。
而我国的父亲节起源，要追溯到国民时代。民国三十四年的八月八日，上海闻人所发起了庆祝父亲节的活动，市民立即响应，热烈举行庆祝活动。抗日战争胜利后，上海市各界名流仕绅，联名请上海市政府转呈中央政府，定“爸爸”谐音的八月八日为全国性的父亲节。
